Will skate for Beavers this coming Fall

Cody Carlson, a forward with the Portland Junior Pirates A team, will attend Babson College (Div. III- ECAC East) this coming fall. Carlson, a 5’11”, 180 lb. forward from Peterborough, NH, will suit up for the nationally ranked Beavers for the 2008-2009 season. He currently has a 14-12-26 line through 38 games for the Junior Pirates.

“We are thrilled for Cody and his intention to play for Babson next season,” said Junior A Head Coach Jay Pecora. “With his skill and competitiveness, he will make an immediate impact in their lineup.”

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to go to Babson and continue my hockey career,” said Carlson.  “Having decided upon this early in the season, it has eased a lot of the pressure that I know a lot of the guys feel towards the end of the season. I feel much more comfortable going into games night in and night out, and I definitely think it has helped with my play on the ice.

Babson College, located in Wellesley, Mass., is recognized internationally as a leader in entrepreneurial management education. According to the USCHO.com polls, the Babson Beavers are currently ranked fourteenth in the country in Division III hockey with a 15-5-3 record.

Carlson is the 37th college commitment for the Portland Junior Pirates organization since their first season (2003-2004), just four years ago.
