Portland Junior Pirates

Saco, ME- The Portland Jr. Pirates announced today that defenseman '89 Dan Smith of Kennebunk, Maine has verbally committed to play for the University of Southern Maine Huskies in Gorham, ME for the 2009 - 2010 season.

This past season was his 5th with the Junior Pirates program where he was also named captain of the Junior A’s. Smith becomes the Junior Pirates 62nd college commitment.

Smith ended the season with four goals and seven assists in addition to his great defensive play. Dan made huge impacts throughout his five seasons here but will now have the opportunity to continue at the next level.

Dan joins Ryan Boucher and Kevin Smith next season for the USM Huskies, as well as Junior Pirates from past seasons, Ryan Jean and Mike Carpenter.
